Archetypes Unravelled: The Creator

Week 6 of our 12-Week Guided Writing Series

Welcome, creators! We’re at the mid-point of our 12-week guided writing journey through archetypes, exploring recurring narrative patterns and figures to transform them into fresh stories and poems.

This writing series draws inspiration from traditional archetypes while bringing them to life in new ways, infused with your lived experience, imagination, and unique intersections of life.

The Creator archetype celebrates imagination, play, and the joy of bringing something new into the world.

Guidelines to Get Started

Gather your tools and follow your creative spark. Pause when you need to, wander freely; this session is yours to shape.

Two anchor questions I have for you today:

  • What lights you up to write?

  • What wants to take form through you?

Note: There’s no need to finish anything today. Just enjoy the making.

Introducing The Creator

The Creator is driven to make meaning. Their work can be personal or world-changing, ephemeral or lasting. They shape not just objects, but entire realities.

Creators include artists, writers, parents, teachers, builders, and dreamers. So that consists of all of us here, and think of:

  • Octavia Butler dreamed radical futures into vivid worlds and powerful words.

  • Frida Kahlo transformed personal suffering into strikingly original visual art.

  • Temple Grandin uses her neurodivergent sensory understanding to remake systems.

  • The founders of Black Lives Matter transform grief into a powerful movement.

Today’s focus: The Creator—a figure who brings new worlds into being through vision, invention, and deep inner drive.

Total Session Time: ~ 30 minutes
